CRC Mileage Program - January, 2013


 
Welcome to the CRC Mileage Program for 2013!  It’s hard to believe that January has come and gone but not without a strong start by all of you!  Here are the numbers to prove it: 56 members ran a total of 8,241 miles in January!  Keep up the great work!  Click here for January’s mileage totals. 
The beginning of a new year is a perfect time to reflect on your running plans and goals from last year and set new objectives for the year ahead.  Think about including this program in your plans.  For some, reaching 1,000 miles by year-end may seem like an impossible hurdle.  It will be harder for some than others but keep in mind we are all sharing in this passion together.  This program is not a competition; it is motivation; motivation to get out there and just run!!!!!! 
New for the 2013 Mileage Program will be four separate tiers to help motivate those seeking a higher challenge.  These tiers will be at 500, 1000, 2000 and 3000 miles.  Awards will be distributed at the 2014 CRC Winter Classic 8k and will be based on the total reported running miles from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013 (one award per participant, based on the highest tier reached).  We plan to announce the award incentives by April to give a little added motivation to reach these mileage goals!
If you want to join the mileage program just report your miles for the month by sending an email to run.charlotte.miles@gmail.com.   A reminder email will be sent on/near February 26th to all members.  If you are interested in checking out what Athleticore has to offer as a tool for journaling your miles, here are the instructions for joining (there is no fee):

Step 1: go to www.Athleticore.com in your web browser.
Step 2: click Join in the top right corner
Step 3: fill in the information (DO NOT ENTER ANY TEAM INFO HERE)
Step 4: now log into the system with username and password
Step 5: click Teams on the top toolbar
Step 6: click Join Team on the left
Step 7: click join next to the 1st Charlotte Running Club name
Step 8: enter CRC as the password
You can join Athleticore and begin recording your miles anytime during the year (if you begin mid-month, make sure to email your partial month of miles as every mile counts) and your miles will be automatically retrieved for this mileage program. 
Let’s hope for sunny blue skies, crisp air and fun for the rest of February!

  1. Hi, this article is really interesting and at the same time it is really inspiring. I would love to run because it can help us a lot, not only for our health but for those people who needs it. Here in Philippines the running events have always for a cause to help other people in our country. Anyway, thanks for sharing it with us.
