Most of Charlotte's runners need to run of soft surfaces every once in a while. Charlotte has several different parks that offer great trails!
In addition to Local Parks, we have mapped out some of the more popular running routes in the area located at:Uptown Charlotte Parks and Tracks
Freedom Park (3 miles)
Can access Freedom Park Parking from East Blvd. Parking located on Freedom Park Service Road.
JC Smith Track
From uptown, take 6th street traveling toward Gateway. Turn right onto 5th Street. Go over Inter State 77. Turn Right immediately onto Summit Ave. Go about half a mile and the track will be on the right.
East Charlotte Parks
McAlpine Park – Main Entrance on Monroe Road (9 miles)
From Uptown using Independence Blvd: Take US 74-E (Independence Blvd) for 7.1 miles. Turn right onto Village Lake Drive (after all the car dealerships). Turn left onto Monroe Road. Travel half a mile and the park entrance will be on the left. Address is 8711 Monroe Road.
Sherman Branch
From Pineville: Go 485 (Outer Loop) go to Albemarle Rd. exit. turn left towards Albemarle, take fist left on to Rocky River, go about 1 mile, turn left into field at mailboxes after you pass Camp Stewart Rd.
From Harrisburg: go 485 (Inner Loop)to Harrisburg Rd., Exit 39, turn right onto Harrisburg, go about 1 mile to Camp Stewart Rd. and turn Left, follow until road dead ends into Rocky River, turn left, go 200 yds, turn left into field.
West Charlotte Parks
US National White Water Center (13 miles)
I-85 South to I-485 North (Inner). Get off at Moore's Chapel Road exit. Turn left to cross back over the highway. Continue on Moore's Chapel for approx 2 miles. Turn left at the big sign for the National Whitewater Center (Hawfield Road). Follow the gravel road into the southeastern corner of the parking lot. Trail starts at the kiosk.
Renaissance Park (6 miles)
I-77 to Exit 6B for Tyvola Rd. Tyvola to Renaissance park ball fields by following the signs.
South Charlotte Parks (Including SC)
Anne Springs Close Greenway (7-9 miles)
You are heading for the Leroy Springs Recreation Complex. Trailhead is at the far back parking lot between the softball fields. The land is privately owned so please bring $3 to pay as part of the honor system to keep the park up.
From Uptown Charlotte
Merge onto I-77 S/US-21 S via the ramp to Rock Hill
Entering South Carolina 6.7 mi
Take exit 90 to merge onto US-21 S 0.4 mi
Turn left at Carowinds Blvd/US-21 S

McMullen Creek Park
From the Arboretum: Providence Rd. (Hwy 16) out of town approximately miles from the Arboretum at Hwy. 51. Turn left onto McKee Rd. Follow McKee Rd. approximately 4 miles to the light at Weddington Rd. (stay to the left at the fork at the Fire Station) Turn right and the Park is 3/4 of a mile on your right.
McMullen Creek Park
From Uptown, take 77-S to exit 32 for I-485 E. Travel for 3.4 miles until you reach the exit for 51-N/Pineville Matthews Road toward Matthews. Travel about a mile until you pass the Chili’s on the left and then you will turn right into the parking lot. This is the start of the Greenway. Other entrances are on Johnston Road (park lot there as well) and Rea Road. The Rea road entrance has limited parking but is next to Trader Joes, Run for Your Life and Starbucks!
North Charlotte Parks
North Meck Park (3.5 Miles)
Old Statesville Rd (US 21) between Huntersville and Cornelius.
Fisher Farm (near Davidson) (5.25 miles)
From I-77 N go to Exit 30/Davidson, turn right. Go to second light and turn right/Main St. At next light, turn left/ Davidson Concord Rd. Go about 3/4 mile and make a left on Grey Rd. Follow Grey Rd. and it turns into Shearer's Rd. Follow Shearer's for another mile or so. Turn right at Fisher Rd. Follow gravel driveway to barns.
From I-85 Take Hwy 73 west. Turn Right on Davidson Concord Rd. Turn right at Rocky River Rd. East. Turn left on Shearer's Rd. Turn left on Fisher Rd.

From I-77 N go to Exit 30/Davidson, turn right. Go to second light and turn right onto Main Street. At next light, turn left onto Davidson Concord Road. Go about half a mile and turn left onto Baker Drive. Park in the large parking lot. If you run through the football practice field, you will find the trailhead.
Latta Plantation (10-15 miles)
From I-77 North go to exit 16B for Sunset Road. Turn Right onto Sunset. Go half a mile. Turn right onto Beatties Ford Road. Travel on here for about 5 miles. Turn Left onto Sample Road. Once you enter the park gates, turn right immediately into the Nature Center Parking Lot. Trail maps available at the Nature Center.
UNC Charlotte Trails (4-10 miles)
Exit 45a off I-85. Exit to the right and go left at HWY 29 intersection. Park at Hollywood Video on left and go across HWY 29. Trail entrance is about 20yds on left.
Park up on the hill behind the library on Harris Blvd., the trails start at the far left corner.
Mallard Creek Greenway(4-15 miles)

Corner of HWY 29/N. Tryon Street and Mallard Creek Church Road, near UNCC: This link is the back-up location in case the first entrance is locked. This is where the King Tiger 5k starts and ends at the RFYL University store.
