CRC: World Record Holder!

Charlotte Running Club's 100x5k World Record is in the bag! With an average 5k time of 18:30 (5:58/mile), our club runners brought this one home decisively! Huge congratulations to all the runners who didn't let rain or wind or darkness or cold hold them back. Also many thanks to all that came out to support us!

  1. Congrats Charlotte Running Club!!

Having organized the record for the Florida Striders (which was officially recognized by Guinness as 37 hrs, 12 min, 54 sec), i fully understand the challenge of coordinating 100 runners to run continuously as well as all the other requirements that must be met. And of course there are always other obstacles, such as weather and that fear of one person getting hurt, which i'm sure you had to contend with. Moreover, i also know the thrill of setting a world record that everyone in your club must have felt. And while our club's primary purpose in going for the record was to raise money for the Donna Foundation, a charity that supports women with breast cancer (we raised over $6400), I'm glad our establishing the record gave you the inspiration to go for it, as i'm sure the event promoted running and that a good time was had by all involved. All the best to you in putting together the evidence and submitting it to Guinness, as i know that is quite a challenge too.

    Congrats again,

  2. Thx u Mike. We were inspired by you all and thank you all for giving us a goal to achieve. Certainly the record will be nice but the opportunity to compete in such an event with fellow club members and have club members cheer and volunteer was terrific. By all means, please let the Florida Striders Track club know that we welcome and encourage them to visit with us anytime they are up in Charlotte. Thx u for the kind words - Aaron (prez)
